  History of gambling

In its apogee the cities was the destination for the most notable citizens and business people on the west coast, it was the place to see and be seen in those days, by 1960 as the new convenience appliances and transportation technology started to pick up the customers attention rolled and the guests started to move to other premium destinations like Miami, Florida and Nassau Bahamas leaving the city to handle the retired and the poor which got the city relegated to a leaser resort destination position. Most of the hotel had to chose, some others were converted to apartments or nursing homes, an intervention was need to revitalize the city and make it back to track.

With the objective of revitalizing the cities and take it back to its best years where it was resort town of the east coast, that by 1976 gambling activities became legalized, after two attempts but even then the poverty could not be reverted with the new business, mainly because the city was a 2nd tier Mecca when compared with Las Vegas. The city had their opportunity to advance its business when Las Vegas mafia lead activities posed a security threat to the tourists so tourist flocked to Atlantic City in masse looking for to enjoy the reborn of the Casino industry. From then on Atlantic City came into view as a Casino destination and started adding  attractions like the Mike Tyson fight’s which were fought mostly in the city.
